today, i’m gonna put in one week’s worth of posts, i’m gonna exhaust myself until i have no craving for self-expression (a.k.a. mga aligutgot na gusto ipahungaw pero dli maisturya busa ginasulat na lang) left in me because i’ve decided i won’t be  blogging for awhile mainly because i’ll be cramming for THE nihongo exam. :(

PhilNITS Exam results are out!
as a backgrounder, the Philippine National IT Standards (PhilNITS)  Exam, formerly known as the Japan IT Standards Exam (JITSE), was started some years ago as a way to gauge a person’s knowledge and skills in the field of Information Technology.

though the name has changed from Japan IT Standards Exam into Philippine National IT Standards Exam, i think the contents of the exam with the new name and that with the old name are still the same, or at least similar–both are based on Japan standards. i think IT people who pass this exam are deemed qualified to work in the IT industry in Japan, or at least they gain recognition that is similar to that.

the passing rate for PhilNITS/JITSE is low. somewhere between 10-15%, if i’m not mistaken. it’s the reason why many people either want to take it, wary about taking it, or a combination of both. me, i belong to the third kind. hehehe. :) )

the PhilNITS Exam is held twice a year: once in April and once in October.

the results of this year’s October 28 exam are out. nope, i wasn’t able to take it. hmm, maybe next year?

perhaps you or someone you know has passed the exam. you can view the results here. :)

congratulations to all the PhilNITS exam passers! :)

i don’t like cats that much anymore
why? because that crazy cat who shows up at the house every so often bit me last night!!! arrrgh! and i was like, what the…?! what did i do to you?! i was going out of my room, on my way to go back to the office for OT, and for some crazy reason, the cat bit me. it bit me! and i didn’t even do anything! grrrr! glad i was wearing pants. if i was wearing shorts, there would’ve a good chance its teeth could’ve punctured into my legs. and the bite could’ve infected me with rabies, especially since that cat was from who-knows-where. rabies? with all the expenses that makes a sieve out of my pocket, i couldn’t risk getting sick or infected. :p so anyway, i don’t like cats that much anymore. even if they are the cutest animals in the world. :p

wanting to go into House arrest
nope, i’m not talking about house arrest ala former President Estrada. i mean i want to stay in the house to watch this can’t-even-go-to-the-CR-to-pee-because-i’ll-miss-a-lot series:  House MD. it’s like CSI, but it has illnesses as cases, and not-yet-determined medical conditions as suspects instead.

in the show, i just love the main character, Dr. Gregory House, head of the Department of Diagnostics. i really like him because even though he may seem like an abrasive, rude, arrogant, and somewhat eccentric doctor, i know that in his own proud and twisted way, he cares for his colleagues and his patients. i think he is just misunderstood by most, if not all, of the other characters in the show because unlike them, he talks about the truth  without sugarcoating it. add to that that his ways of pinpointing or curing a certain medical condition are most of the time too straightforward to the point that they border on insane. his quirky methods work most of the time anyway :D if i were sick, i’d rather have a nearly-hateful doctor who would do everything to cure me than have another doctor who would compensate for incompetence by being nice to me.

God, i wish i have a portable DVD player so i can watch House MD anytime i want, be it in the office during breaks or at home. waaaa! T3T

THE nihongo exam
waaaaaaaaaaa! there are only 1, 2, …,17 days left to study for the exam. and i haven’t even begun memorizing the kanjis yet. the level that i will be taking (or will not be taking… it still depends…) requires 300 kanjis and i haven’t memorized even one. nuh-uh. and the kanjis are just around one fourth of the exam coverage. the other areas that will be included in the test are:

- listening
hate this part. the speaker speaks so fast that the only thing i understand is “wa”.

- grammar
25 new grammar points + 25 old ones. good luck!

- vocabulary
around 1500 new words… passing the exam seems more and more impossible by the minute… tsk tsk.
kanjis are included in this part. memorizing characters and words are two different things for me. so that’s about doing twice the effort just for one part of the exam.

- reading
i’m a slow reader… when the text is written in kana or kanji. so that’s it. passing is practically hopeless.

so…waaaaaaaaa!

as what a friend once said, ganbare! ganbare! ganbare!

of values
cracking a corny joke: none
the smile on a seriously serious person’s face when he heard the joke: priceless :)

missing out on the island hopping in order to study for the finals: the opportunity to island-hop for free
passing all subjects: priceless :)

on achievement
achievement is not just limited to getting an A, passing a certification exam, or getting promoted. it is seeing the positive result of what you have worked hard for or discovering that you have just gone beyond what you thought were your limits. achievements are achievements, even if they go unrecognized. :)
